Ultrasound

At around 20 and 1/2 weeks we had our first -- and hopefully only -- ultrasound.  I say hopefully only because if we need another one along the way, it'll be because something doesn't seem to be right, so not needing more than one is a good thing! :)

Neither of us knew quite what it would be like to "meet" our child for the first time.  It was emotional, beautiful, amazing, breathtaking and overwhelming all at the same time.

We went into a private room with the tech.  There was a monitor mounted on the wall like a TV and we sat there for about 20 minutes and watched the monitor, like we were watching TV.  It was surreal - we were mesmerized to comprehend that the images we were seeing before us were of the baby inside of me.

Everything looked good.  All organs, limbs, bloodflow, etc looked just like they should for the development timeline.  We could see our little one opening and shutting his/her mouth, move limbs about freely and even rolled over.

We didn't want to know the gender and the tech did a great job of keeping it a secret.  We left with a DVD full of images and footage of the event and even got four prints to take with us.

At my follow up appointment with our Dr. we were informed that as a result of the ultrasound, my due date had been changed.  I'm now due on December 17, instead of the 18th!

Here are photos from our baby's first photo shoot:

Enjoy your last weeks of pregnancy. I can't wait to hold the little guy or gal! And thanks for creating this blog so we can follow along!
