A couple of top ten lists

Knowing that the end is in sight - I'm told no woman has ever been pregnant FOREVER - I've made a couple of top 10 lists about pregnancy:

Top 10 things I will miss about pregnancy
10) Complete strangers being nice to me in public
9) Taking Mylanta and Tums and thinking that they don't taste "that bad" considering the relief they provide.
8) Nice, healthy hair, nails and skin.
7) Expectant mother parking spots at retailers.  (They should extend to new mothers, too.)
6) Having a GOOD reason to eat a lot (whenever hunger strikes) and gain weight!
5) Getting joy out of seeing my waist line grow!  :) And enjoying the shopping to accommodate it's growth!
4) A valid excuse to take it easy and rest when tired and worn out and knowing it's not just because I'm feeling "lazy."
3) Motivation - Getting "all those things" done that have been on my to-do list for - ahem - years...OK so they're not all done yet, but the list is MUCH shorter, and probably much less relevant once baby arrives.
2) All of the excitement & anticipation - appointments, showers, ultrasounds, sharing & hearing other moms' stories, etc.
And the number one thing I'll miss...
1) Experiencing the miracle of the life growing inside - feeling movements, watching it grow, etc.

Top Ten things I won't miss about pregnancy:
10) Nosy questions from complete strangers.
9) Continuously feeling like my clothes don't fit "quite" right and keep get smaller and smaller (or shorter and shorter and tighter and tighter).
8) Puffiness/Swelling and not being able to wear my wedding ring.
7) The limited wardrobe. All of my old clothes will seem "new" again. (I just hope I can fit into them again some day soon.)
6) The ever lingering feeling of tiredness/exhaustion and restless "sleep."
5) Requiring assistance to do what used to be simple tasks - putting on shoes, socks and other things that require bending over, sitting up after laying down, getting out of bed, etc.
4) Not being able to eat/drink items on the "avoid during pregnancy" list...bring on the brie!
3) Morning sickness/nausea, BH contractions, heartburn, leg cramps, and body aches/pains.
2) The waiting
The number one thing I won't miss about pregnancy is...
1) Wondering if this child is a boy or a girl! Then we can finally put to rest all of the "theories" as to why its DEFINITELY a boy...or a girl! :)

  1. :-) Man, does this bring back all the anticipation we had waiting for Wylie. You swear you could just explode because you can't take it anymore, but then all of a sudden you're just counting hours and minutes until you get to meet your new little person. It's just surreal right at the end. People tell you their own l&d stories beforehand, but it's way different when you're actually living it with all the excitement/fear/impatience that goes with the process. (((Hugs))) Almost done, mama! I know, you're super tired of hearing it. But it's true! Then you can do it all again if you feel like it ;)
